Parks Dermatology Center provides skin rejuvenation and laser services for a variety of common problems. Cosmetic procedures are used to shape the face, soften skin tone, and eliminate wrinkles.
Aesthetic laser procedures are generally safe and relatively painless when performed by our experienced physicians and physician assistants. During an initial consultation, our physicians will discuss your procedure with you in detail, describing the realistic potential outcome and any possible risks involved.
All of the aesthetic procedures are performed at our facilities. All procedures are performed using only local anesthesia.
It seems like everybody is talking about BOTOX® Cosmetic, a highly effective, non-surgical procedure that can dramatically reduce your toughest wrinkle within seven days. It has been reported in the news, in fashion, health and beauty magazines, and on the television.
What is BOTOX®?
A BOTOX® injection is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that have developed over the course of time. A ten minute treatment relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months.
Unlike surgery, BOTOX® is fast, simple, and minimally invasive, with no downtime or recovery.
What Results Can I Expect?
BOTOX® can smooth out wrinkles and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. This procedure, however, cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions.
BOTOX® relaxes the overactive muscles whose repeated contractions cause the lines between your brows to form. So you can frown, smile, or even look surprised without the furrows, creases, and wrinkles.
Is BOTOX® Expensive?
When considering your facial aesthetic options, BOTOX® is quite affordable. According to surveys by the ASAPS, BOTOX® is one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures. Dr. Parks is the most experience BOTOX® provider in his area. He has the expertise to treat multiple areas of the face with BOTOX®. All our providers are extensively trained in Botox’s many uses and Dr. Parks is the areas most experienced Botox provider, with the expertise to treat multiple facial areas.
When we are young our skin is smooth and elastic with a healthy glow. As we age, our ability to maintain that smoothness and elasticity diminishes, resulting in skin that becomes drier, thinner and less able to replenish itself. Our body's natural collagen and hyaluronic acid levels decrease and our skin becomes looser. This leads to our skin wrinkling and appearing older than it should.
Approved by the FDA, Restylane is designed to match your skin, smoothing wrinkles, sculpting lips or shaping facial contours. With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane is able to perform for many months in your skin. The most common areas for a Restylane treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). When used for lips or facial contouring, Restylane will add shape and volume to the area. Restylane is able to create volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out.
Since no pre-testing is required, a Restylane treatment can be performed almost immediately. It usually takes about 30 minutes depending on the type of correction you want. Most people find the injections relatively painless, but a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area prior to your treatment. You will be able to see the results as soon as your treatment is completed.

The most common areas for treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane remains in your skin for many months.

Juvéderm is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, thinning lips and loosening skin. It can also "plump up" the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Juvéderm comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection.
Sculptra™ is a synthetic injectable material known as "poly-L-latic acid." It has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants and other types of implants.
Spiders are those ugly, dark, little blue veins that run up and down the legs resembling lines on a road map. Sometimes spiders group themselves into nasty little star burst patterns that pop out where they are least wanted! Sometimes they fan out along the outside of the thigh or the inner aspect of the lower leg. Often they gather around the ankles or behind the knees.
Leg spider veins may be treated with Sclerotherapy or Laser. Sclerotherapy involves injections, with a tiny needle, directly into the spider veins. In most cases, after leg vein treatment, normal activities are resumed immediately. Often we use a combination of Sclerotherapy and Laser treatment to get the best results.
Harmony Photorejuvenation Therapy
Harmony Photorejuvenation combines multiple laser treatments to address the key concerns of individual clients’ skin: pigmentation, texture, tone and tightening.
Core components of a Harmony Photorejuvenation Therapy include
- Pixel Laser Skin Resurfacing restores healthy, youthful skin texture and tone with increased comfort and less downtime compared to Fraxel®
- Harmony AFT Skin Rejuvenation, Advanced Fluorescence Technology delivers safe and effective treatments on sun/age spots
Approved by the FDA, these advanced technologies provide our clients the most safe and effective treatments available
Pixel Laser Skin Resurfacing
Pixel is the next generation of fractional laser resurfacing that helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness, smoothes wrinkles, and reduces pore size and scars (including acne scars) without the downtime and discomfort associated with other resurfacing lasers. This FDA-approved treatment represents the best of both worlds for skin resurfacing: it combines the proven effectiveness of an ablative approach with the client comfort level and convenience of a non-ablative approach. Pixel skin resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.
The procedure treats small zones of the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The bottom line: new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of skin imperfections.
In addition, unlike some other fractional lasers (i.e. Fraxel), Pixel requires no topical anesthetic or messy dyes, therefore reducing the risk of a bronzing or tattooing effect. Clients experience less pain during the treatment and a shorter recovery period.
Common areas to be treated include the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. Generally, treatment involves two to four sessions, at four week intervals. There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, clients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Clients experience a sunburn-like sensation afterward (3-4 hours) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturizer. Make-up can be applied immediately afterward. Some flaking will be experienced for one or two days with full recovery in about five days. Your skin will look better within days following the treatment, and results steadily improve over the next few months.
Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) Pulsed Light
Approved by the FDA, Harmony AFT targets pigmentation and diminishes sun spots, discolorations, and redness in the skin. It also improves dull complexions, uneven skin tone and large pores.
AFT pulsed light is applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. Without damaging the skin, the light penetrates the sub-surface skin layers and is absorbed by the blood vessels or by pigmentation. The heat impairs the vessel or lesion, and the body begins its natural healing process. The lesion will darken before it flakes off or is absorbed by the body. There is no downtime and make-up can be applied immediately after the treatment.
The advanced Continuous Wave (CW) technology makes Harmony AFT treatments safer, faster, and more effective by allowing more energy delivered in the optimal therapeutic range while eliminating the dangerous energy spikes that can cause burning and other undesirable side effects. As a result, clients generally require fewer treatments compared to traditional IPL, and experience less discomfort during the treatment.
AFT treatments range from 15 to 30 minutes. Most common areas to be treated include the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. The treatment involves a series of two to five sessions, four weeks apart. Follow-up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results. Clients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Many have seen 70% to 90% improvement. After successive treatments, the skin will feel smoother and appear to have a more even tone.

Mohs Micrographic surgery is a specialized, highly effective technique for the removal of skin cancer. the procedure was developed in the 1930's by Dr. Frederic Mohs at the University of Wisconsin, and is now practiced throughout the world. Mohs surgery differs from other skin cancer treatments in that it permits the immediate and complete microscopic examination of the removed cancerous tissue, so that all "roots" and extensions of the cancer can be eliminated. Due to the methodical manner in which tissue is removed and examined, Mohs surgery has been recognized as the skin cancer treatment with the highest reported cure rate.
Special Qualifications of the Mohs Surgeon
As physicians performing Mohs surgery, we have specialized skills in dermatology, dermatologic surgery, dermatopathology, and Mohs surgery.
Advantages of the Mohs Surgical Procedure
Some skin cancers can be deceptively large - far more extensive under the skin than they appear to be from the surface. These cancers may have "roots" in the skin, or along blood vessels, nerves, or cartilage. Skin cancers that have recurred following previous treatment may send out extensions deep under the scar tissue that has formed at the site. Mohs surgery is specifically designed to remove these cancers by tracking and removing these cancerous "roots". For this reason, prior to Mohs surgery it is impossible to predict precisely how much skin will have to be removed. The final surgical defect could be only slightly larger than the initial skin cancer, but occasionally the removal of the deep "roots" of a skin cancer results in a sizeable defect. The patient should bear in mind, however, that Mohs surgery removes only the cancerous tissue, while the normal tissue is spared.
